There Is No Arriving

2024

‘There Is No Arriving’ plays with uncertainty and intentionality. The subjects evade a singular narrative, they appear to have undergone or be undergoing a confusing ordeal that walks the fine line between what is plausible and bizarre. By contrast, the construction of the image, intentional placements and precisely framed compositions give this seeming meaninglessness a surety. There is irony in the intentionality used in the depiction of content that forgoes the rationale.

These images sit within the realm of the everyday and domestic spaces become a stage upon which the props and characters enact certain meanings beyond their own realities. An emotional and psychological response is triggered upon their looking, resulting from the associations and metaphoric significance the viewer projects.
